Whilst working in the software industry for large commercial projects I found that the clients, customers, or just general users didn’t have a clue about the brute force behind the software they were using. They were certainly unaware of the extensive amount of work that was devoted to a single product as well as the large, and highly experienced team behind the scenes making important decisions every day that would directly affect the end-user. Taking the personal out of the product doesn’t tell the user much about the product apart from it’s coming from said company. Most software producers have a front, a company, a name, or even a fictional character such as Jeeves. Of course we’re not inciting that these “fronts” are bad things, simply that we like to deal with things on a more personal level by providing our users with regular updates on what’s going on here at reformsoft.

This is our first blog post, and after much team work we decided to maintain our blog on a regular basis providing updates on what we’re working on as well as asking our users how we can improve our products. Currently there are three active products being developed, two of which are client-side applications and one is a web application. For now that’s all we can give away and we hope in the not too distant future one of those products will be available for the public, and for free.

On the subject of free we would also like to make a note on our stance of freeness and open source. Whilst some of our projects are closed source we do this for some very good reasons. We are not limiting our projects to closed source, we simply have to weigh up the advantages and disadvantages. Some projects start closed source and once we are happy with it they can eventually be released as open source projects.

This was the short introduction to reformsoft, hopefully you may check back again soon.
